John's Island Club
The membership at the John’s Island Club is enjoying their new club which opened November 2008. The new beach club building designed in an Anglo-Caribbean style, has a variety of dining options to better suit it’s multi-generational membership. The new building was elevated seven feet higher that the original beach club which includes parking for 116 in lower level covered garage and 48 parking spaces on the parking deck above along with 45 spaces on grade.
The “Island Room” dining room which seats 144 has a combination of freestanding tables, booths and banquettes. The center exterior wall of mahogany doors open completely to an elevated terrace overlooking the pool deck and ocean with umbrella table dining.
The “Ocean Hearth” dining room, a more intimately scaled room seats 68 with two center banquette groupings under a vaulted tongue & groove ceiling, and freestanding tables around the perimeter next to bi-folding mahogany windows.
The “Rafters” bar has expanded seating capacity in the adjacent library/ billiard room and gallery, under wrap around covered pool side loggia and in front of a fireplace in an outdoor living room.
A small plate tapas menu is served to those in the “Rafters” bar from an adjacent kitchen which also serves a family friendly menu out of two walk-up snack bar windows convenient for those seated on the pool deck or on the beach which seats 62.
The reception by the membership of this most casual part of the new building has required staff to stay well into the early morning hours until the members have departed.
Approved by the membership March 2005 (95% voted in favor). Construction began in late spring 2007 and was completed in fall 2008.
