The membership of Loblolly Yacht Club voted with an 80% approval to replace their existing yacht club with a new building on the same site. The original Yacht Club was designed by Peacock + Lewis for the original developer of the community in 1979. The new facility accommodates a growing demand at the club for a less formal waterside dining experience for a multigenerational membership.
The lower level accommodates a ward room, dock master and washrooms. The upper level accommodates indoor/outdoor dining rooms and the kitchen facilities. Due to a size constraint, a display kitchen was designed to save space and create theater and ambiance while facilitating a higher level of service to the patrons.
The yacht club features a medium toned stained mahogany dining room overlooking the marina. Structural beams and columns are wrapped in the same mahogany. The galley cabinetry and display kitchen offer a warm yet active bar experience that provides ease for service to the dining room and "eat-at" bar. The custom millwork and glass wine closet highlights the entry providing temperature controlled wine display and storage. A custom wood slat ceiling was designed with the required acoustical properties to capture background noise.
Demolition and construction of the new clubhouse began in the summer of 2008 and was completed in early fall 2009.
