VERO BEACH, FLORIDA

The design challenge for this clubhouse remodeling was to deformalize the golf clubhouse building, which the membership was highly proud of. The challenge was to create a new casual arrival and activate the underutilized dining venues on the upper level for day and evening dining with short views of the putting green and long views of the golf course.

This clubhouse remodeling opened the Food & Beverage venues to engage the outdoor environment overlooking remodeled practice facilities adjacent to the clubhouse. Features of this remodeling, which have been highly successful and well received by the membership, include an overall de-formalization of the building to create a more contemporary vibe while respecting the classic forms and elements of style for which the club is known. New “thin mullion windows” and steel doors create a clean, contemporary, open feel to the building, setting the stage for an updated décor.

The remodeled golf shop became a boutique that now flows to the club market/café with grab-n-go and short-order cuisine. A landscaped promenade connecting the north parking to a new casual bag-drop/valet stand provides access to casual spaces on the lower level and new vertical circulation on the upper level.

The transformation has been very successful, with members utilizing the new casual entrance, visiting the golf shop, using the new market, and dining in the new indoor/outdoor venues in the clubhouse during the day and evening.
