Loblolly – Wellness Center

Since the management and members of Loblolly had a desire for an expanded fitness program with larger classes, state-of-the-art equipment, and an updated interior which complimented its idyllic coastal setting, Peacock + Lewis was contracted to design the facility

A decision was made to construct additions on either side of the building and to reconfigure the existing interior. The lobby and cardio roof trusses were replaced to utilize existing attic space for interior volume. Classic coastal detailing, soothing palette, and up-lighting were carefully chosen. The uplifting artificial cupula above the reception desk gives the illusion of natural light behind backlit shutters. A hospitality station design contains cubbies, cold towels, and seating for after workout relaxation. The addition’s higher ceilings and windows provide natural light to these new exercise spaces. Crisp white-painted storage units organize equipment and integrates a TV for self-directed classes, further expanding the fitness program offerings.

Loblolly has worked with Peacock + Lewis on a number of different projects, including master planning, clubhouse remodeling and fitness renovation since 2004.
